The next morning, during breakfast, Siobhan suggested that we all head to the library with her to see if we could find any books with knowledge of the creation of the secret water tunnels in the Fae Forest. Last night's drizzle had turned into a full-on rainstorm during, so we all donned our raincoats and ran along the village backstreets, ducking under shop awnings along the way.

Simon had taken one step outside before demanding that I pick him up and hold him under my rain jacket. Once we reached the library, we all shook ourselves off and planted ourselves at our usual table in the middle of the downstairs. Since the library was rather dark, with the lack of sunlight filtering through the windows, Siobhan lit soft candles that gave the room a warm and magical glow as we read what books we could find.

Later in the morning, as we delved deeper into our research, Simon started chasing Onyx in their own version of tag to alleviate the boredom they were facing. Nutmeg had disappeared upstairs, probably seeking out the dog bed that Siobhan kept up there. The tag game had the two animals weaving through the shelves, distracting us from our books now and then.

Siobhan left our study table and was gone for several minutes, only returning with an old and fragile scroll. Just as she was unrolling the scroll, the library's front doors boomed open with a large gust of wind, and in came Tara, not even bothering to take off her coat. She ran to the table where we were sitting, her steps thudding on the ancient carpet.

"Morning," Tara huffed, out of breath. I wondered what had been so important that she had run here, in the middle of a storm, no less.

"Good morning, Tara," I replied, putting down the old book I'd been reading. "What's up?"

Tara braced herself against the table. "I was just over at Roisin's," she said. "Emmett and Shane showed up during tea."

I had been in Ireland long enough to discern that Tara’s irritation likely stemmed more from the interruption of their tea time by the men than their mere presence.

"The Fae Queen has requested an audience with all the water shifters," Tara continued. "They're to meet with her in the forest at sunset tonight."

"Did they give any reason why?" Siobhan asked.

"Probably because the Queen knows that one of them must have killed Hayes," Ciara answered her sister.

"Get them all in one place at the same time," I said. "It would be a perfect time for her to question them on what they know or where they've been."

Ciara leaned in; her eyes sparkling. "You know," she whispered, "tonight might be the perfect time to break into all the cottages."

I couldn't help but agree with her, but Tara's expression immediately turned serious... Or at least more serious than her usual expression, which I didn't think was possible honestly.

"I still don't think that's a good plan," Tara cautioned. "The water shifters are already on edge from being investigated.
